Why Passengers Are Being Asked to Leave Buses: Clarification
In recent hours, citizens have reported to Auroranews that in various parts of Yerevan, city transport drivers are halting buses and asking passengers to disembark due to bad weather conditions. There are also claims that the reason is the non-winter tires on the buses.
Auroranews contacted Vardges Papyan, the head of the traffic safety department at 'Yerevan Bus' LLC. He noted that buses only stop operations in the city's narrow streets because the heavy snowfall and congested traffic make it dangerous, even impossible, for buses to operate. 'This is done primarily for the safety of our fellow citizens. In the city’s wide streets, transport operates normally,' he explained.
Regarding the issue of tires, Papyan officially stated that 'Yerevan Bus' has replaced and completely renewed the tires on medium to large-class buses, specifically the 12-meter buses. These tires are all-season. Generally, in the bus sector, there are no winter or summer tires. Therefore, I assure you that there are no problems related to the tires,' added Papyan.
