Residents of Santorini Are Leaving the Island en Masse
Residents of the Greek island of Santorini are leaving the island in large numbers due to a series of earthquakes that have occurred in recent days. According to preliminary estimates from tourism agencies, more than 5,000 people have left Santorini. SKAI television reports that 9,000 people have departed the island, which has a permanent population of 15,000.
In the early hours of the morning, several tremors of magnitude 4 were recorded in the Cyclades archipelago in the Aegean Sea, including a 4.9 magnitude earthquake at 5:00 AM.
