Fidan Calls on Armenia and Azerbaijan
Peace in the South Caucasus is closer today than ever before. This was stated by Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. He urged Azerbaijan and Armenia not to miss this 'historic opportunity.'
“Undoubtedly, this is based on Azerbaijan’s liberation of its territories from occupation. We maintain our bilateral relations with Azerbaijan at the highest level and are making joint efforts to resolve numerous international issues. We welcome Armenia's choice in favor of peace and stability and call on both countries not to miss this historic opportunity,” said Fidan.
Fidan reminded that for the first time after a long hiatus, the parties held a meeting in Istanbul without mediators or third parties. “At the '3+3' platform meeting held in Istanbul in October, we discussed all regional issues. When peace and stability come to the South Caucasus, not only humanitarian issues will be resolved, but also conditions will be created for trade, cooperation, and development,” he concluded.
