UN Gives Time to Baku and Yerevan
The UN court has given Baku and Yerevan one year, until November 12, 2025, to prepare documents regarding cases of racial discrimination.
These documents are expected to refute the opposing side's arguments concerning the merits of the case. Armenia initiated judicial proceedings against Azerbaijan in the International Court in September 2021, based on the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. The lawsuit accuses Azerbaijan of actions against Armenians over decades, which intensified during the 2020 conflict over Artsakh.
On September 23 of the same year, Baku filed a counterclaim, asserting that Yerevan has engaged in discriminatory actions in the region and continues to discriminate against Azerbaijanis based on their ethnic origin.
