How Many Armenian Trucks Are Waiting at the Upper Lars Border Checkpoint?
Approximately one-third of the vehicles awaiting to cross the border near the Upper Lars checkpoint are Armenian trucks. This is evidenced by data from the traffic management center in North Ossetia.
According to the latest figures, there are 1,832 trucks registered in line, of which 580 are Armenian. Electronic data indicates that the passage through the 'green zone' (immediately at the border) is currently closed; however, neither the Georgian nor the Russian side has issued an official statement regarding this matter.
Statistics suggest that around 150 Armenian trucks pass through Upper Lars daily. It is worth noting that the Military Road is the only operational land route connecting Armenia with Russia.
