It Should Not Be at Germany's Expense: Olaf Scholz
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has stated that providing military support to Kyiv should not come at the expense of investments in Germany's future and its citizens. This announcement was made during his speech in the German parliament.
“We need to answer one question: should we finance support for Ukraine at the cost of more than 12 billion euros from the German federal budget, to the detriment of our country's future? My answer is no,” declared the German Chancellor.
He reiterated that there can be no double standard or choice between helping Kyiv and Germany's welfare.
