What Trump Promised to Palestinian Leader
The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, promised to make efforts to end the war in the Gaza Strip during a phone conversation with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, Axios reports.
According to the publication, following his conversation with Trump, Abbas issued a statement officially congratulating him on his election and expressed his willingness to cooperate with Trump in establishing a peace based on justice.
Trump, in turn, reaffirmed his readiness to collaborate with Abbas as well as other significant regional and global players. This is considered an important fact, especially given that during his prior administration, Trump had no communications with Palestinian leader Abbas after recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and moving the US Embassy there.
