"Immoral Act": What Article Was Used to Arrest an Employee of School No. 20

Within the framework of a criminal case being investigated by the Main Investigative Department for Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee, public criminal prosecution has been initiated against one of the employees of John Kirakosyan School in Yerevan under Article 201, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code.

This was reported by the spokesperson of the Investigative Committee, Gor Abrahamyan.

"The investigator has made a decision to arrest the mentioned employee and present them to the competent authority, which has been carried out. At this moment, appropriate investigative actions are being conducted with the specified individual. No further information is being released in consideration of the interests of the pre-trial investigation,” he stated.

Below we present Article 201 of the RA Criminal Code:

Article 201. Committing an Immoral Act
1. Dissemination, demonstration, or commission of sexual acts towards a person under the age of 16 by a person who has attained 18 years of age, including the distribution of pornographic materials or items, portrayal in print, films, or electronic media, undressing or performing sexual actions in the presence of a person under the age of 16, engaging in sexual conversations or provoking sexual desire towards a person under the age of 16, in the absence of elements of offenses specified in Articles 198, 199, or 200 of this Code, shall be punishable by short-term imprisonment for a maximum period of two months, or imprisonment for a maximum period of three years.
2. The act specified in Part 1 of this Article, committed against a person under the age of 14 or by a group of individuals or using information or communication technologies, shall be punishable by imprisonment for two to five years.
3. An act prescribed in Parts 1 or 2 of this Article, committed against a direct ancestor or a person who has a duty to educate, care for, or treat a child, committed against a person under the age of 12, committed against someone who is unable to resist the offense or understand the nature of the act due to mental health issues, committed by a criminal organization, or causing serious consequences such as mental disorder or other severe impacts, shall be punishable by imprisonment for three to six years.
