20 Missing After Gas Storage Explosion in Stepanakert; Investigative Committee Remains Silent
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: "The Investigative Committee, which sometimes 'spills the beans' on certain cases and discloses pre-investigation secrets, violating the presumption of innocence, has become a partisan in other matters. The media has attempted to find out what has been done regarding the gas storage explosion case in Stepanakert on September 25, 2023.
It turns out that a year later, there are no accused individuals, the details of the event remain unclear, and moreover, the Investigative Committee refuses to answer any questions. The spokesperson for the Committee stated, 'The head of the Committee spoke about this in an interview at the beginning of the year. Since then, we have not provided and will not provide any information. Due to the interests of the pre-investigation, no further information is disclosed regarding the criminal proceedings.'
Relatives of the victims and the missing persons are also unaware of the case details. About two months ago, they staged a protest in front of the government building, demanding that search efforts for the missing be prioritized. There are 20 individuals missing, about whom nothing is known.'
