Putin's Decision: Foreigners Avoiding Military Registration Will Lose Russian Citizenship
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law that allows for the revocation of Russian citizenship obtained by individuals who refuse to register for military service. The newly enacted law stipulates that all citizens arriving in Russia are required to visit a military enlistment office immediately.
This law effectively combines the processes of acquiring Russian citizenship and military registration. The explanatory note accompanying the document highlights that despite a previous law mandating foreigners to register for military service, there have been numerous cases where these "new citizens" fail to do so.
According to the signed document, before a foreign citizen can take the oath of citizenship, the internal affairs agencies will be required to send information about that citizen to the Military Registration Office.
