The EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Toivo Klaar, will be replaced by Magdalena Gron from the Czech Republic, as announced by the Czech Republic’s permanent representation to the EU.
“The Committee on Political and Security Affairs has just confirmed Magdalena Gron from the Czech Republic as the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Georgia. The nomination will be officially approved by the EU Council,” the statement said.
Toivo Klaar has served as the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Georgia since 2017. He has made numerous visits to the region, including in the context of the Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization process.
