Over 350 Million AMD in Illegally Acquired Assets to Be Seized for Armenia
Over 350 million AMD in illegally acquired assets is set to be seized for Armenia. This information was provided by the Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia.
“The Anti-Corruption Court, presided over by Judge Karapet Badalyan, has issued a ruling that entails the seizure of over 350 million AMD in assets from Suren Gabrielian in favor of Armenia. This includes a private house in the Arinj community of Kotayk province, an apartment in the Center administrative district of Yerevan, and over 70 million AMD in cash,” the statement reads.
The ruling will enter into legal force one month after its publication and can be appealed to the Court of Appeal of the Republic of Armenia within the month following publication.
It should be noted that Suren Gabrielian is known to be one of the defendants in a criminal case regarding the embezzlement of 10 million 980 thousand euros from “Haybusinessbank” CJSC (now AMIO Bank). Arthur Baghdasaryan, the leader of the “Orinats Yerkir” party, had sent a letter to the National Security Service on September 9, 2013, which led to Gabrielian's arrest.
During his detention, Suren Gabrielian was transferred to the Norq Infectious Diseases Hospital due to serious illnesses, from which he escaped, after which a search was issued against him.
In 2016, Suren Gabrielian was in Germany for treatment, despite being internationally wanted by Interpol.
Currently, nothing is known about Suren Gabrielian's whereabouts.
