Francophonie Parliamentary Assembly Adopts Resolution on Artsakh Armenians and Territorial Integrity of Armenia
Earlier today, the Francophonie Parliamentary Assembly adopted a resolution concerning the "Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and the Territorial Integrity of the Republic of Armenia." This was reported on the Facebook page of Arman Yeghoyan, the chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on European Integration.
The resolution states: "Taking into account Azerbaijan's attack on Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19, 2023, the forceful displacement of more than 100,000 Armenians, and Azerbaijan's ongoing violations of Armenia's territorial integrity, the Francophonie Parliamentary Assembly calls for respect for Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its borders. It strongly condemns the Azerbaijani military invasion and the September 19, 2023 attack, the ethnic cleansing of the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the destruction of Armenian cultural and religious heritage.
It unequivocally supports Armenia's independence and sovereignty, and advocates for the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan based on mutual recognition of territorial integrity, as well as demarcation of borders according to the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration. The resolution also emphasizes the unblocking of regional communication routes based on the principles of sovereignty, national jurisdiction, equality, and reciprocity, and, in this context, supports the Armenian government's "Peace Crossroads" initiative."
