VIDEO: I will break your legs, Vladimir Gasparyan threatened a journalist
Vladimir Gasparyan has been diagnosed with health issues that obstruct the execution of detention and imprisonment sentences, prompting his lawyer, Alexander Kochubaev, to request a forensic medical examination to clarify his health condition. This request was made during the final court session of the former Chief of Police of Armenia, Vladimir Gasparyan, at the Anti-Corruption Court.
Kochubaev also asked the expert to propose questions regarding the current health conditions of Vladimir Gasparyan, inquiring whether any illnesses he suffers from are included in the list of diseases outlined by the Armenian government’s decree dated May 26, 2006, and whether these diseases could hinder his capacity to serve any potential sentence.
He justified presenting such a request at this stage by stating, “We could not submit this request until it was clear what type of sentence the public prosecutor might seek.” Judge Vardges Sargsyan indicated that even if the court were to grant this request, it would return to the courtroom to hear the defendants' final statements before rendering a verdict, wondering if the appointment of the examination might just be a formality since they might not wait for its conclusion. In response, Kochubaev clarified, “This matter is not one to be addressed in the actual court sessions, and it pertains to the potential sentence that may be imposed. Therefore, theoretically, if we assume that a prison sentence is to be applied, this request is necessary for the implementation of any possible verdict. This is a process for the future.”
Vladimir Gasparyan requested that issues related to his health be discussed behind closed doors. Currently, the session is ongoing in a closed session. Furthermore, Vladimir Gasparyan also threatened a journalist. For further details, refer to the video by MediaHub.
