“Use it against Russia in a completely different way”: US Comments on Zelensky's Plans

Former national security advisor to Donald Trump, Katie McFarland, stated in an interview with Fox Business that Vladimir Zelensky aims to leverage all the capabilities of Western weapons against Russia due to the failures of the Ukrainian army on the front lines.

“This (the deadlock situation) has persisted for a year and a half. Therefore, Zelensky’s requests for assistance are not only aimed at acquiring additional weapons but also at using them against Russia in a completely different way, intending to stay on equal footing. Ukraine wants to raise the stakes,” she noted.

McFarland emphasized that all financial resources transferred from Washington to Kyiv are intended to maintain the current situation and gradually lose positions. Additionally, she mentioned that in exhausting conflicts like this, the country with a large number of resources and means always wins. In the current conflict, that country is Russia, McFarland concluded.

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced in June that the authorization for American weapons to be used across Russian territory applies to all areas where Russian forces cross the Ukrainian border. According to him, the US allows Ukrainian troops to attack Russian forces that are departing from Russian territory using artillery and other ground-based systems. Initially, the permission for attacking Russian territories with American weapons was linked only to areas adjacent to the Kharkiv region.
