SATMN Concerned by Significant Increase in Violations of Armenian Products Imported to Russia

The State Food Safety Service of Armenia has reported a concerning rise in incidents of quarantine harmful organisms being detected in shipments exported from Armenia to the Russian Federation. Between November 24 and 26, the number of such detections by the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia (Rosselkhoznadzor) has increased by 110 times compared to the previous 11 months.

It is alarming that out of the total 72 violations recorded by the relevant Russian agency during the year 2023, half—36 cases—were identified in just three days, while the other half were detected over nearly 11 months. This comes despite the Russian agency's statement that inspections were carried out as per standard operational procedures without changes to the oversight process.

The State Food Safety Service of Armenia has previously investigated and responded to all cases of violations, and will continue to implement monitoring measures regarding all the identified incidents, expecting consistent and impartial cooperation from Rosselkhoznadzor.
