Car Parking Fees at Customs to Increase Threefold: Head of the State Revenue Committee

The customs authority has announced that the fees for temporary storage of vehicles (parking at customs) will increase on average by three times. This was stated by Arthur Manukyan, the Deputy Head of the State Revenue Committee, during a meeting of the Permanent Commission on Economic Issues of the National Assembly.

He emphasized that there had previously been a significant influx of vehicles, particularly at the Gyumri customs, where more vehicles were imported than were cleared, and the storage area became a parking lot for many owners. Manukyan noted that while the flow has significantly decreased, the issue remains.

"We propose to review the fees for motor vehicles by setting a higher rate so that the areas are not used merely as parking spaces. This would mean that if the fee for a passenger car is currently 1,600 drams, it will increase to 5,000 drams per day in the future. This will not apply if the importer does the paperwork, and we have stipulated that no state fee will be charged for the first day," said Manukyan.

He highlighted that the proposed changes would reduce the problems related to spaces, and the effectiveness of the customs authorities in administration would also increase.
