White House on Use of Russian Intercontinental 'Sarmat' Ballistic Missiles
The United States has observed significant advances by Ukrainian forces in southern Zaporizhzhia over the past 72 hours, the White House has reported.
“In the last 72 hours, we have seen some notable progress by the Ukrainian armed forces in the southern line of Zaporizhzhia, and they have achieved some success against the Russian defenses in that second line,” said John Kirby, the National Security Council’s coordinator for strategic communications.
In a conversation with reporters, Kirby stated that Ukraine's success depends on how they capitalize on it. “This does not mean they are unaware that several tough battles lie ahead. As they try to move southward, Russia may also respond with countermeasures,” he added.
Kirby also mentioned that he could not confirm reports from Friday about the use of Russian intercontinental 'Sarmat' ballistic missiles with nuclear capability.
