Paris Becomes First in Europe to Ban Electric Scooter Rentals Effective September 1
On September 1, 2023, 15,000 electric scooters that were available in Paris will disappear from the streets of the French capital. This has been reported by local media.
Three private operators providing these electric scooters have been busy removing them from the streets for days. By the end of the month, Paris will become the first capital in Europe to completely ban these two-wheeled transport vehicles.
The decision is based on the results of a municipal referendum held on April 2, in which more than 100,000 Parisians participated. Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo personally campaigned for public participation in the voting, highlighting that the removal of these electric scooters would reduce discomfort on the streets.
