Algeria Refuses French Military Aircraft Access to Niger

Algeria has refused to allow French military aircraft to cross its airspace for military intervention in Niger, reports the Algerian Al-Habr newspaper citing its sources.

The publication notes that it has obtained information regarding “the decision of the Algerian authorities to reject the request of French authorities to open airspace for French military aircraft in response to a potential intervention in Niger, considering the decision of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) member countries to initiate an incursion following the rejection of the insurgents to return power to the ousted President Mohamed Bazoum.”

After this rejection, France made a similar request to Morocco, which was accepted, reports Radio Algiers.
