VIDEO: Citizens of Artsakh Gather in Front of the ICRC Office in Stepanakert

Citizens of Artsakh are holding a protest in front of the ICRC office in Stepanakert demanding the release of Vagif Khachatryan, who was abducted today. Marut Vanyan has published a video of the protest on his Twitter account.

The protest is also attended by Gurgen Nersisyan, the state minister of Artsakh.

Earlier, it was reported that Azerbaijani soldiers detained a 68-year-old resident of Artsakh who was traveling to Yerevan for medical treatment accompanied by the ICRC. The man was arrested at an illegal checkpoint set up in the Lachin corridor. Later, Azerbaijani media, citing the country's Prosecutor's Office, reported on the detention of Vagif Khachatryan.

Former Human Rights Defender of Artsakh Artak Beglaryan stated that Vagif Khachatryan was arrested in the presence of his daughter. The spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry described the abduction of Vagif Khachatryan as a gross violation of international humanitarian law.
