If Russia Decides to Withdraw from Artsakh, It Means the Threat of Mass Genocide No Longer Exists: Pashinyan

The deployment of Russian peacekeeping forces in Artsakh has a specific purpose, which is stated in the relevant decision of the Russian Federal Assembly. The decision states that the Russian president has the right to send peacekeeping forces to Artsakh in order to prevent mass genocide of the population, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a press conference.

According to the Prime Minister, the Russian president himself appealed to the Federal Assembly to send peacekeeping forces to Artsakh to prevent a mass genocide of the population. “If Russia decides to withdraw, it means that there is no longer such a threat in Artsakh. If there is no such threat, then it means that the dialogue between Baku and Stepanakert within the framework of international dialogue has been effective, and the parties acknowledge that the presence of peacekeepers is no longer necessary,” he stated.
