VIDEO. You Have the Opportunity to Prevent a New Genocide: Tovmasyan Outside the US Embassy
Participants of the protest approached the US embassy in Armenia with slogans and banners saying, 'No to the blockade of Artsakh' and 'Artsakh is facing the threat of a new genocide' and continued their demonstration there.
MP Taguhi Tovmasyan stated in her speech that she has sent numerous letters to the embassy detailing the situation, including reports of casualties, injuries, and the inability of villagers to carry out agricultural work.
'We ask and demand that you apply the same standards that we use for aggressors. Aliyev's criminal gang is committing genocide in Artsakh under your and the rest of the world's silence and indifference. We urge you to stand up for human rights.'
Tovmasyan noted that in the 21st century, we are faced with a prehistoric challenge that we cannot resolve on our own. 'We expected greater support from larger states, but it could only be provided with the maintenance of justice. We want you to impose sanctions as you do against all aggressors. Stand up for human rights; let them not remain just as declarative documents. We must raise the issue of the rights of Artsakh residents, we must speak and inform the world about what is happening. Artsakh has never been and will never be part of Azerbaijan; Artsakh is Armenian. And that is the will of the Armenian people,' she emphasized.
