UN Secretary-General Sends Letter to Putin
UN Secretary-General António Guterres sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday with proposals for the implementation of the Russian portion of the grain deal. This was reported by TASS, citing the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Stéphane Dujarric.
“The aim is to eliminate obstacles to financial transactions carried out through the Russian Agricultural Bank, which has been repeatedly emphasized by the Russian Federation, as well as to allow the continued export of Ukrainian grain via the Black Sea,” Dujarric said, adding that the Russian side has received the Secretary-General's letter and is currently reviewing it.
According to the UN Secretary-General’s representative, July 17 will be the last day after which the corridor will cease to operate if the grain deal is not extended.
