Results of the First Day of NATO Summit Evaluated in Kyiv

Kyiv was aware of the desire of NATO member countries to invite Ukraine to join the alliance. This was stated by the Deputy Head of President Volodymyr Zelensky's office, Mykhailo Podolyak, in assessing the results of the first day of the NATO summit in Vilnius, as reported by the Klymenko Time Telegram channel.

“We knew that NATO would only take the first steps—long-term planning and abandonment of membership action,” reads the concluding statement.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg announced that the military alliance would invite Kyiv to join the bloc with the agreement of all Western bloc members and upon meeting necessary conditions, but did not specify a timeline.
