International Technical Standards Need to be Developed for Artificial Intelligence
Leaders of the G7 countries have called for the development of international technical standards for artificial intelligence, Reuters reports. While acknowledging that the approaches to achieving a common vision and goals for reliable AI may differ, the G7 leaders stated in a joint declaration that 'the governance of the digital economy must continue to be updated in line with our shared democratic values.'
Generative AI, which has gained attention through the ChatGPT application, was specifically mentioned, as the G7 leaders emphasized that there is a need to 'assess its opportunities and challenges immediately.'
