Russia's Ministry of Education Does Not Recognize Results of Slavic University Rector Elections
The elections for the rector of the Russian-Armenian University cannot be recognized as legitimate due to numerous procedural violations. This is noted in a letter from Russia's Deputy Minister of Education Konstantin Mogilevsky.
The letter states that the elections held on May 12 cannot be considered legitimate as the procedures for organizing and conducting the elections were violated. The violations specifically pertain to the deadlines for candidates to present their electoral programs.
On May 5, the ministry presented its position in a letter directed to its Armenian counterparts (the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia).
It is important to recall that during the voting that took place yesterday, the university community elected Edward Sandoyan, the director of the Institute of Economics and Business, as the rector. Another candidate, the university's vice-rector for science and Doctor of Philosophy, Pargev Avetisyan, has withdrawn his candidacy.
