Pernod Ricard Halts Alcohol Exports to Russia, Including Ararat Brandy
The French Pernod Ricard conglomerate has announced that it is halting the sale of several alcohol brands it owns, including Ararat, Chivas Regal, Absolut, and Jameson, in Russia.
As additional information, Pernod Ricard has stated that these well-known alcoholic beverages have not been supplied to the Russian market since the end of April. Telegram channels with large Russian and Ukrainian audiences are actively disseminating the conglomerate's official statement.
Political scientist Gagik Hambaryan commented on this information on Facebook, writing: "Ararat brandy is leaving Russia. It turns out that the products from the Ararat brandy factory in Yerevan, which are in high demand in Russia and a significant portion of which was exported to the Russian market, are losing that market."
In a conversation with Aravot.am, the political scientist stated: "As citizens of the Republic of Armenia, what concerns us is the cessation of Ararat brandy's export to the Russian Federation, as this can have disastrous consequences both agriculturally and socio-economically. We all know well that the Ararat brandy factory is one of the largest grape buyers in the Republic of Armenia, and if it is not entering the Russian market, there will be a sharp decline in grape purchases in our country until new markets are discovered. And that will take a considerable amount of time. During this period, there will be a significant social blow to both the grape growers and their families, as well as to the employees of the brandy factory itself."
