This is Azerbaijan's latest encroachment, says Armenian Foreign Ministry
The incident recorded in the Tegh village area of Syunik is yet another encroachment by Azerbaijan on the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia. This was stated in a message released by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On April 11, around 16:00, a group of Azerbaijani servicemen approached the Armenian Armed Forces personnel under the pretext of clarifying the positions of the border deployment points. They provoked and opened fire using firearms, and subsequently fired from various caliber weapons towards the Armenian Armed Forces personnel and positions. The Armenian Armed Forces took retaliatory actions to defend the sovereign territory of Armenia, resulting in casualties and injuries.
The incident is Azerbaijan's latest violation of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia. This policy by Azerbaijan is not new; it is a continuation of the attacks carried out against Armenia in May and November 2021, as well as in September 2022, which resulted in Azerbaijan occupying sovereign territories of Armenia.
It should be noted that the use of force and the threat of its application are an integral part of Azerbaijan's policy, aimed at significantly destabilizing the situation in the region and undermining the efforts of intermediary partners to continue peace negotiations.
