Changes in the CPP Stance on Alen Simonyan: ‘Haykakan Jirair’
The newspaper ‘Haykakan Jirair’ reports that according to its information, members of the National Assembly's CPP faction have changed their stance regarding Alen Simonyan following the party board's last meeting.
After the scandalous incident involving the Speaker of the National Assembly at Cascade, some members of the ruling faction stated, both in private conversations and openly with media, that the faction should discuss the incident involving him.
Some MPs, likely inspired by the first president's suggestion, even claimed that the faction should discuss the issue of the Speaker's dismissal. However, after the last meeting of the CPP board, the mood within the ruling faction has shifted.
‘Haykakan Jirair’ noted that neither the incident involving Alen Simonyan nor the question of his dismissal was discussed at the meeting. The reasons for the shift in the CPP members’ stance are not clear. It is likely that Alen Simonyan has managed to communicate effectively with the MPs, despite the efforts of some factions within the CPP.
In an interview with ‘Haykakan Jirair’, CPP faction MP Vahagn Aleksanyan stated that neither the incident involving Alen Simonyan nor the issue of his dismissal has been discussed at all by the faction.
