Response to Iranian MP: Expert on Northern Azerbaijan Aspirations

Azerbaijani MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev has proposed the initiative to rename Azerbaijan as Northern Azerbaijan. He noted that this would also serve as an impetus for South Azerbaijani people, who are considered part of a 'divided nation.'

In an interview with RusArmInfo, expert Harutyun Arakelyan described the MP's proposal as media manipulation. According to Arakelyan, the statements made by the Azerbaijani MP are not serious and aim to respond to Iranian parliamentarians who consider Azerbaijan to be part of historical Iran.

This comes in response to recent statements made by Iranian MPs. It is worth recalling that two weeks ago, an Iranian MP stated that Azerbaijan should join Iran.
