Video: Barbarism in Korea Gorge, Citizen Raises Alarm

“This barbarism is happening in Korea Gorge, on the street of the children’s city,” wrote a user named Narine Balayan on Facebook. She also published several videos showing trucks unloading construction waste in Korea Gorge.

The user calls the attention of Yerevan’s municipality and the Ministry of Environment with her post. As it is Sunday, and the mentioned authorities might respond later, we decided to search online for information on any landfill operating in Korea Gorge.

It turns out that there have been reports about this landfill. They indicate that there are waste dumps throughout Korea Gorge, most of which consist of construction debris. It should be noted that the only legal site for construction waste in Yerevan is the Nubarashen landfill.

Residents of the area have been raising alarms for several years, but nothing has changed. People continue to bring construction waste in trucks and dump it in that area. Even fines have been imposed, but these penalties have not had any effect.
