Police Officers Break Car Window to Rescue Unconscious Man in Yerevan
On March 25, an emergency incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 10:40 AM, officers from the 2nd platoon of the 4th company of the patrol service of the Yerevan garrison were on duty in the Arabkir administrative district when senior officer Vardges Saharadyan and junior officer Armen Badalyan informed company commander Armen Gasparyan that there was a man lying in the back of a parked Opel vehicle with its engine running in the administrative area of the "Armenia" Medical Center, raising suspicions that something was wrong.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the officers knocked on the car windows several times to wake the driver, but seeing that he did not respond, they made a quick decision to break the passenger side window and remove the man, who was found unconscious and frothing at the mouth.
The officers immediately rushed to the "Armenia" Medical Center, retrieved a stretcher, and brought the man to the hospital’s reception area, where doctors were able to save his life. In a conversation with the photojournalist, hospital staff mentioned, "We noticed that two officers entered the building in a hurry and asked us for a stretcher. To be honest, we thought that they might be bringing in an injured person, but when they took the stretcher and ran about 100 meters towards the entrance, we got curious. Following them, we then saw two other officers pulling a man from the car. They urgently brought him to us. Fortunately, his life is not in danger, but he is currently in a serious but stable condition. As doctors, we can say that if assistance had been delayed by just a few minutes, the outcome could have been tragic. We also, in turn, thank the young officers who saved the citizen’s life.”
According to G. Shamshyan's information, the citizen is 48-year-old Armen H. At this moment, the officers are waiting for the operational group of the Mashtotsi police department to arrive.
G. Shamshyan also reports that the man had tried to warm up in the car with the windows rolled up and the engine running, which led to a carbon monoxide leak.
