Artak Boudaghyan Abandons the Army

Hraparak newspaper reports that amid heightened tensions at the border in Syunik, incidents related to interpersonal relationships within military units have also increased. Last week, two such incidents were recorded.

Defense Minister Suren Papikyan traveled to Syunik Province. According to our sources, Artak Boudaghyan, the military leader in Syunik, has abandoned his duties regarding the army. His family is reportedly focused on supplying food to the army and engaging in more business activities, which has led to serious disciplinary gaps in the military units, something that Papikyan has also noticed.

In a ministry statement about his visit, it was mentioned: “During a meeting with officers in one of the military units, the minister addressed incidents that occurred in recent days and emphasized that these events are a result of a lack of discipline in certain subdivisions, as well as the inadequate moral and psychological condition of some soldiers.”

We attempted to speak with Artak Boudaghyan, but he declined to answer our questions, directing us instead to the Ministry of Defense’s press office.
