The Armenia Faction Restores Its Participation in the Work of International Organizations

The Armenia Faction of the National Assembly has issued a statement announcing its decision to restore its participation in the work of international organizations.

The statement is presented below:

“On December 7, 2021, we issued a statement suspending our participation in the work of relevant international organizations. The basis for the statement was the obvious unlawful detention of our partner MPs and the illegal restriction of movement of other MPs, including those included in delegations.

After the statement, our colleagues were released from unlawful detention following a decision based on the appeal submitted by our faction to the Constitutional Court. Subsequently, the process of removing the illegal restrictions on the movement of MPs began.

Although the Constitutional Court clearly stated that the initiated criminal prosecutions should not hinder the constitutional activities of MPs, this government continues the same obvious unlawful approach towards some MPs. The authorities are also unlawfully keeping several members of our Alliance in detention.

However, we are confident that we will achieve positive results both regarding the unlawful detentions of MPs and the elimination of these gross violations. Considering that a significant part of our demands to lift the unlawful restrictions on the activities of MPs has been addressed, the Armenia Faction has decided to restore its participation in the work of international organizations.”
