Payment of Wages to Be Fully Implemented Through Cashless Means
The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia adopted the law on "Cashless Transactions" on January 18, 2022. According to Article 6 of the law, "Salaries defined by law or labor contracts are to be paid in cashless form starting July 1, 2022, in Yerevan, from July 1, 2023, in the administrative centers of the regions of the Republic of Armenia, and from July 1, 2024, by organizations, individual entrepreneurs, lawyers, and notaries operating in other settlements of the Republic of Armenia. Based on a written request from a person with a disability, their salary may be paid in cash form."
According to Article 10, Part 3 of the mentioned law, "The Health and Labor Inspectorate of the Republic of Armenia is responsible for monitoring compliance with the requirements of this law or the normative legal acts adopted based on it that contain labor legislation and employment law norms, and applies measures of responsibility." The law will come into effect on July 1, 2022.
According to Article 169.8 of the Administrative Violations Code of the Republic of Armenia, there is liability for the employer for not paying wages in accordance with the established legal order.
