Putin Told Me He Would Not Escalate: Macron
Russian President Vladimir Putin assured that he would not initiate an escalation in the conflict in Ukraine, which is important, French President Emmanuel Macron stated, according to RIA Novosti.
On Monday, Macron held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow that lasted over five hours. On Tuesday, the French president arrived in Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Yesterday we exchanged thoughts with President Putin regarding security and military issues; he told me that he would not initiate escalation (in the conflict in Ukraine). I think this is important,” Macron said during a press conference following his talks with Zelensky in Kyiv.
