Who are the candidates discussed by the opposition for the presidency? - "Hraparak"
The media outlet has inquired about the candidates discussed by the parliamentary opposition, represented by the "Armenia" alliance, for the presidential position in Armenia. Reports indicate that a number of individuals have been considered.
Initially, the candidacy of Robert Kocharyan was proposed, who declined to run. Subsequently, Edgar Ghazaryan declared his intention to run, emphasizing the importance of his candidacy and expressing his willingness to support any candidate put forth by the opposition.
Additionally, two more candidates have been discussed: Ruben Melkonyan, an expert in Turkish studies and a Doctor of Sciences, and Ara Sahakyan, the former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly. Sahakyan's candidacy has been viewed positively, as he could be a strong competitor to Vahagn Khachaturyan, given that both are figures from the era of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, both possess significant biographies, and have held high offices. Sahakyan is also perceived as an intellectual and an educated individual.
