“Omicron Will Be a Common Virus Like the Flu: People Will Get Sick and Recover,” Narek Zeynalyan

“The predominant strain is of the Omicron type because it has a significantly high prevalence; however, fortunately, the mortality rate is very low compared to other strains,” said Narek Zeynalyan, the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Health and Social Affairs, a member of the ruling political party, during a conversation with journalists regarding the COVID-19 case numbers in Armenia.

“If you’ve noticed, the death toll is minimal despite such a high rate of infection. Essentially, we are heading towards a situation where this will become a common circulating virus, similar to the seasonal flu virus. I am confident that it will go in that direction; people will get sick and recover in the form of a regular cold, and for the most part, there won’t be a need for hospitalization,” Zeynalyan stated.
