Warsaw to Provide Ukraine with Air Defense Systems, Drones, Artillery Munitions
Great Britain, Poland, and Ukraine are working to strengthen their trilateral cooperation in the context of the "ongoing threat of Russian military intervention," the leaders of the two Eastern European countries announced in Kyiv, according to Reuters.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to arrive in Kyiv later on Tuesday.
"I hope that soon we will be able to officially launch a new regional format of Ukraine-Poland-Great Britain cooperation. In the context of ongoing Russian aggression, we must sign a trilateral document on cooperation to strengthen regional security," said Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Shmyhal, his Polish counterpart Mateusz Morawiecki stated that Warsaw would assist Ukraine in gas and arms supplies, as well as humanitarian and economic aid. "Living next to a neighbor like Russia, we feel like we are living at the foot of a volcano," Morawiecki said, adding that Warsaw will provide Ukraine with artillery munitions, mortars, air defense systems, and reconnaissance drones.
Morawiecki called on Germany not to activate the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, stating that it poses serious security risks. According to him, "resisting Russia is important not only for Ukraine but for all of Europe and NATO." He added, "By activating this pipeline, Berlin is filling Putin's gun, which he can use to blackmail all of Europe."
Morawiecki noted that foreign ministers are "working on a potential format that could enhance cooperation in various fields between Poland, Ukraine, and Great Britain."
