Iraqi Armed Forces Neutralize Nine ISIS Militants
The Iraqi armed forces have carried out airstrikes targeting a hideout of the Islamic State terrorist organization in the eastern part of the country. This was reported by the security forces' press service on Saturday, with the content shared by Al Sumaria TV, as reported by TASS.
According to the statement, nine ISIS militants were neutralized as a result of the strikes. All of them were involved in attacks against military personnel in the eastern region of the country.
On January 21, SHAFAQ News reported an attack carried out by ISIS militants in the west of Diyala province on military facilities, resulting in the death of 11 Iraqi servicemen.
ISIS militants occupied about one-third of Iraq's territory in the summer of 2014. In June, they captured Mosul, the country’s second-largest city, and declared it the capital of their so-called caliphate.
