25 Years Ago: Prime Minister Armen Sarkissian Published His Resignation Text from London, Says Karen Kocharyan
Political technologist Karen Kocharyan's post: "Exactly 25 years ago, Prime Minister Armen Sarkissian published his resignation text from London. A few days later, Robert Kocharyan was appointed as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia by the decree of President Levon Ter-Petrosyan. One year later, Levon Ter-Petrosyan also resigned. I simply recalled our recent past as an old man. P.S. The start of constitutional changes has been given.
It is worth mentioning that Armen Sarkissian was a lecturer at the Yerevan State University Faculty of Physics from 1976 to 1990. He founded the subdivision of mathematical modeling of complex systems at the Chair of Theoretical Physics at YSU. From 1991 to 1996, he held the positions of Chargé d'affaires of the Republic of Armenia in the United Kingdom and then Ambassador of Armenia. From 1992 to 1996, he served as a Senior Ambassador in Europe, as well as the Armenian Ambassador to the European Union, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the Holy See, and head of Armenia's mission to the EU. He served as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia from 1996 to 1997. From 1998 to 2000, he was reappointed to the UK and concurrently served as Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Vatican."
