«Mirror Withdrawal» Will Place Kapan and Numerous Villages in a Neutral Zone, Says Alvina Agababyan
The head of the Strategic Research Center, Alvina Agababyan, wrote on her Facebook page: "The 'MIRROR WITHDRAWAL' is an anti-Armenian agenda that would result in the loss of new territories.
Based on the current line of contact, the mirrored withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Armenia and the occupying Azerbaijani forces is simply UNACCEPTABLE and UNALLOWABLE.
Here are just a few examples:
- Kapan City: The Kapan Airport is located just 50-100 meters from the current line of contact. In the event of a 'mirror withdrawal,' where will our troops withdraw to? Will they position themselves in the central square of the city, or will Kapan, a regional center with a population of approximately 43,000, completely find itself in a neutral zone and become depopulated?
- Khnazakh Village: Approximately 200-300 meters away from the current line of contact. In case of a 'mirror withdrawal,' where will our troops be stationed? Will they be in the yard of the village's St. Hripsime Church, or will the entire village end up in a neutral zone and be depopulated?
- Kornidzor Village: Located about 500 meters from the current line of contact. In the case of a 'mirror withdrawal,' where will our troops pull back to? Will it be in the yard of the village's secondary school, or will the village be entirely placed in a neutral zone and become depopulated?
- Shurnukh Village: The current line of contact runs right through the village. In the event of a 'mirror withdrawal,' will the entire village find itself in a neutral zone and be depopulated?
- Jakatun Village: Approximately 350-400 meters from the current line of contact. In case of a 'mirror withdrawal,' where will our troops be stationed? Will it be in the yard of the village's 10th-century St. Hripsime Church or the school yard, or will the village entirely find itself in a neutral zone and become depopulated?
- Nerkhin Hand Village: About 250-300 meters away from the current line of contact. Where will our troops withdraw to in a 'mirror withdrawal'? Will they be stationed in the school yard, or will the entire village find itself in a neutral zone and become depopulated?
This list can be extended further. Several dozen villages and towns are facing disaster.
The conclusion is one: 'Mirror withdrawal' is an anti-Armenian agenda that is fraught with the loss of new territories, which will subsequently lead to new security issues for us, making us even more defenseless and vulnerable. I am refraining from discussing the social, economic, demographic, logistical, psychological, and self-identification issues arising from this catastrophe for now."
