Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry 'Upset' by France's Assessment
Azerbaijan considers the statement made by the French Foreign Minister regarding Aliyev to be "unbefitting of a diplomat," according to RIA Novosti.
The diplomatic spat between France and Azerbaijan continues. Azerbaijan's foreign office immediately responded to the French Foreign Minister's remark that President Aliyev's words concerning Valérie Pécresse are "unacceptable."
In a statement, Azerbaijan declared that Léo Dréan's interpretation of comments made by the leader of another country is "irresponsible and unacceptably contradicts diplomatic traditions."
It is noteworthy that earlier, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian stated in the National Assembly that "President Aliyev's words pertain to an elected official and a candidate for the presidency of France; they are unacceptable both in substance and in form. I have communicated this to the Azerbaijani ambassador in France."
The diplomatic dispute began after Valérie Pécresse, the candidate for the presidency from the Republican party, visited Artsakh on December 21, 2021.
