Those People Have Been Replaced by the ‘Dumpling Tails’ at Serge Sargsyan's and Robert Kocharyan's Tables: Isabelle Abgaryan

“With your proposal to express no confidence in the mayor, you are telling the residents of Yerevan that you are not the decision-makers; the decision-makers are the ruling party,” said Yerevan City Council member Isabelle Abgaryan today, December 22, during the discussion of the draft to express no confidence in Hayk Marutyan.

Speaking to the ‘My Step’ faction, Abgaryan stated, “By doing this, you are not just doing a disservice to the mayor and removing him; you are removing the residents of Yerevan from the possibility of making decisions.” She emphasized that all polls show that the public demand for the removal of Hayk Marutyan from office has not been formulated.

“When ‘My Step’ presented the points upon which to base the no-confidence motion, residents of Yerevan did not agree with any of those points; otherwise, people would have taken to the streets and said, ‘Hayk Marutyan, step down!’ The residents calmly received the news that Marutyan has left ‘My Step’; that was natural,” she noted.

“Reading your statement, the phrase ‘who are the judges’ kept spinning in my mind, as in the work ‘The Fool’s Disaster.’ Today, you are judges, and without presenting any factual evidence to the public, you are attempting to sentence someone to death; that is what you are doing today,” Abgaryan added, highlighting that the ‘My Step’ faction of the City Council is trying to place all of its mistakes on Hayk Marutyan.

“Hayk Marutyan has not deviated from any political path; it is the ‘Civil Contract’ party that has deviated from ‘My Step’s’ path, consistently getting rid of those individuals who were the revolutionary driving force of ‘My Step’, risking their lives in the streets and lying under vehicles. Today, these people have been replaced by the ‘dumpling tails’ at Serge Sargsyan’s and Robert Kocharyan’s tables, who have declared that they are now also members of ‘My Step’. Hayk Marutyan has merely become non-partisan; he has not abandoned the city in a difficult moment,” Abgaryan stated.
