I Did Not Participate in the Vote of No Confidence Process: Member of Yerevan City Council's 'My Step' Faction
With all due respect to the team I have tried to work with in the Yerevan City Council for the past three years, I inform you that I did not participate in this process, as the reasons for the vote of no confidence are not sufficient for me. This was stated by Sipan Asatryan, a member of the 'My Step' faction of the Yerevan City Hall, on his Facebook page.
Dear friends, in an article published on the Irakanum.am website, my name was included in the list of council members participating in the signature collection for the vote of no confidence against Mayor Hayk Marutyan (which has already been removed from the list). With all due respect to the team I have been trying to work with in the Yerevan City Council for the past three years, I inform you that I did not participate in this process, as the reasons for the vote of no confidence are not sufficient for me.
Understanding that the council is a political structure and that in politics, conscience and responsibility towards conscience are largely set aside, I consider myself a non-political person, and I want to see myself as more responsible before my conscience than in regard to other circumstances or realities.
My goals in the council have been civic, namely, to the extent of my abilities, to support the increase of participation of persons with disabilities and to ensure the accessibility and inclusiveness of the city. I have never considered myself a person who can engage in politics, and therefore I have believed that everyone should do their job and not stick their nose where they cannot manifest their abilities.
I inform you that with regret, I am ready to resign my mandate in the council if the moment forces me to do so or if the political team finds that my decision is incompatible with the future working process with them.
