948 million dram allocated for the renovation of Gyumri's streets and the city's lighting. The government approved
The government allocated approximately 948 million dram for the municipal program of Gyumri during today's session. The Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Gnel Sanosyan, stated that the necessity of adopting the project is related to the fulfillment of commitments made in 2021 under three contracts signed with contractor and supplier organizations within the framework of the Gyumri urban roads program supported by the World Bank.
The project includes two key components: the renovation of streets and an energy-efficient external lighting network. The total budget for the project is 23.84 million euros, with construction work having commenced in 2019. Of this amount, 15.4 million euros is allocated for the renovation of roads, streets, and associated infrastructure, while 6.5 million euros is designated for the external lighting network. The program will continue in 2022.
"In total, it is planned to asphalt 26 km of roads, which corresponds to 37 streets in Gyumri along with all their infrastructures. There will also be projects for changing the lighting network in the surrounding street areas. By the middle of 2022, we will have all 26 kilometers completed, in addition to three squares and the entire lighting network implemented," noted Gnel Sanosyan.
