Are You Legislators or Street Thugs? 'Hraparak'
'Hraparak' newspaper reports: 'At the start of the regular four-day session of the National Assembly, another incident occurred. The Vice President of the National Assembly, Ruben Rubinyan, had around 30 ruling party deputies and their assistants in his office, who assaulted three assistants of the 'Armenia' faction deputies. The incident began when the brother-in-law of Prime Minister Pashinyan, Hrach Hakobyan, and Sisak Gabrielyan felt that the young men had looked at them disrespectfully in the corridor and did not acknowledge their greeting. They attempted to confront them, but the assistants stated it was merely a misunderstanding. However, their explanation was not convincing, and the representatives of the ruling party resorted to cunning. Through Ruben Rubinyan's assistant, they contacted the opposition's assistants, summoned them to Rubinyan's office under the pretext of resolving the incident, and then attacked them with about 30 people and beat them up. Sexual insults were audible in the corridors of the National Assembly.
It was reported that the operation was led by the brother-in-law, with the main aggressor being the top enforcer Vahagn Aleksanyan, along with Sisak Gabrielyan, Armen Khachatryan, and others actively participating. Armenouhi Kyureghyan's assistant, Taron Ghazaryan, the chairman of the 'Nikola Aghbalyan' student union, sustained injuries to his face and an ambulance was called. Rubinyan was not in his office at the time, and although the sub-units of the police stationed in the National Assembly heard the screams and curses, they intervened only when the media arrived at the scene.
Yesterday, in response to a question from 'Armenia' faction deputy Aram Vardevanyan about whether they would file a report about the crime, he stated that the media reports already constituted a report. Later, a group of DPA members gathered outside the National Assembly building, calling on the ruling party members to come out and explain why they deceitfully invited the young men for coffee and then assaulted them.'
