I Highly Value His Professional Qualities, But Politics Was Too Much: Agazaryan on the Ombudsman's Work
Hovik Agazaryan, a member of the Civil Contract faction, expressed uncertainty about why their faction rushed to nominate a candidate for the position of Ombudsman, suggesting it may be due to procedural requirements, during a conversation with ArmDaily.am.
Regarding the nomination of oriental studies expert Kristine Grigoryan, the MP stated, "As much as I know and understand her approaches and perceptions concerning being elected for such a responsible position, I believe she can do it, yes. Now, it wasn't just her candidacy; there were many candidates from which she was selected."
When we inquired why Grigoryan was chosen, Agazaryan explained, "Well, someone had to be appointed in the end. Through discussions, we arrived at this conclusion."
The ruling party MP denied that there were candidates who rejected the nomination for the Ombudsman position put forward by Civil Contract.
Agazaryan highly appreciates the professional qualities of the current Ombudsman, Arman Tatoyan, but emphasizes that politics played too significant a role in his work. "I highly value his professional qualitiess, but there was too much politics involved. If the dosage of politics were lower, or if politics didn't exist at all, he would have performed his duties very well within the constitutional powers. I believe there was too much politics involved with him, which turned into bias," Agazaryan noted.
When asked whether Tatoyan would make a good political figure, Agazaryan responded, "Yes, I would like to have such a political opponent."
