Aghajanyan Clarifies Why He Stated That We Have 15 Casualties
During a question-and-answer session between the National Assembly and the government, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that the enemy has occupied 41 square kilometers of our territory, but the international community tells us that after the first Nagorno-Karabakh war, you also have territories of Soviet Azerbaijan. It is in this context that delimitation and demarcation are important. He also said, “We accept and understand what the international community has said.”
Today, during a parliamentary briefing, journalists asked to comment on Pashinyan's remarks—whether it could be understood that land exchange with 'enclaves' was possible. Edouard Aghajanyan, an MP from the Civil Contract party, responded that this would become clear once we go through the delimitation and demarcation process, which requires extensive work.
“The commission that needs to be established should answer this question following a considerable period of work. At this moment, I have no idea which maps will be used during this process or what logic will operate,” he stated.
When asked how many casualties, injuries, missing persons, and captives there are since the attack on November 16, Andranik Kocharyan, Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of the National Assembly, replied that currently, confirmed information states there have been 6 casualties. “The remaining information will be presented to the public by the authorized body after clarifications. The count of 6 casualties is confirmed. Any speculation regarding captives should not be allowed right now, as we see in social media and actions by various news organizations,” he said.
Aghajanyan had previously stated that we have 15 casualties, prompting journalists to ask whether they had clarified whether there are 6 or 15 casualties. He responded that when he published that number, he made it clear that it was based on unverified data at that moment.
